In this current age of constant scrolling, constant content, AI stealing all of our work etc. I cannot help but think maybe we had it right with the internet several years ago.
Back when you could get away with posting a blog once a month. When scrolling wasn't infinite. When our lives were not dictated to by algorithms and when teenagers did not have to worry about their 'brand'.
I'm not sure if its a movement or anything like that, so much as a reality that these apps are designed, backed with billions of dollars to keep us on the hook, and that they are ultimately not doing us a lot of good. That and posting anywhere on social media these days is like pissing in the wind. On top of being bad for us, its not all that effective unless you win the algorithm lottery.
so i feel like it would be good to post content in the style of the pre algorithm internet, making a blog here on my site to collect my recent work. I was going to make a mailing list for this site as well to let people know when i have a batch of new designs up. But i think i can also do a blog at the same time and provide a little bit of extra info. So please, join the mailing list!

All designs posted here are linked to their shirts on my site for those interested.
This one is from an English TV sitcom (only fools and horses) , one of the most popular shows ever, of its time anyway. I would guess it isn't well known outside of the UK, it would probably be hard to understand all the local language. For example a 'monkey' means £500. i didn't grow up in London so even i had to look up what that meant.

The main character had a lot of catchphrases, a lot of them made it to every day parlance in the UK. This one was my fave of the bunch, it showcased the characters unending (and probably misguided) self belief. I can relate. It really needs to be delivered in a thick, no H cockney accent.
I wanted to try making a drawing video. Its a bit fiddly to film it, so I'm not so sure how often i will do it but i actually liked the result more than i thought i would. Its fun to see a drawing come together.
Incase anyone is wondering about my wacom. I use a third party keyboard shortcut thing, but there isn't really anywhere to put it so its just stuck in place on the left side of my wacom using blue tack. Yes I know it looks like crap.

This next one is just a play on words. In Chinese, one of these things -a steamed bun is called a 包子 (bao zi). Which really sounds a lot like 'Bowser' and so we have bowser eating baozi =bao ser. It seems like the word bao has taken off enough in the west that people would get it enough. Out here in Asia he is known as Koopa, so, nobody would get the pun.
I hadn't drawn a banjo Kazooie design in a while. So that's why i drew this. Stop and swop is some legendary gaming cut content. Look it up if you have never heard of it, rare were literally planning for you to yank the cartridge out of the n64 while it was still switched on and stick in another one.
Why didn't they just go with the proven sonic and knuckles 'lock-on technology' method? Its a mystery to me.
Another reason i wanted to draw this is because I've been playing banjo tooie.
A game I never used to think that highly of, but I have recently came to appreciate it. You just have to look at it as more of a slow burn Metroidvania type of game than a fast paced platformer you could speed run, as is the first banjo. Its also much funnier than I remember. Very underrated.
If you have ever seen the sopranos (the best TV show ever made) then you should instantly know what this is all about. Richie Apriles infamous jacket! Probably the most memed moment of a very memed show.
In my Chinese class we had to make a presentation one week on our favorite TV show. I chose sopranos. Then on the day of, I happened to find out that TV show in Chinese Means non drama TV show, like a game show or chat show or whatever. (and it seemingly applies to rest of Asia because no other student made the same mistake) Drama is another word. What an idiot.
This one is a drawing of the flying bike scene from E.T. I love that scene, and i love the look of it with Elliot wearing a red hoodie and ET wrapped in a towel plonked in the bike basket. I was really happy with how this turned out. I was planning to draw everyone with big blue saucer eyes after i did this but i think i changed my mind.
This one is of Leon from blade runner, with one of the best lines in movies - and a great thing to say when you get up in the morning.
And another attempt at a drawing video. While researching the music from this (the blade runner end credits music )I found out that the music from scrap brain zone in sonic 1 (a banger tune) was inspired by / is referencing this. Super cool.
I shall leave you all with this one.
As i have been banging on about ye olden days of the internet i will post this silly drawing i did last year but have not yet posted of an old internet meme, a fat hairy bloke posing in a speedo with his collection of guns ( i could only be arsed draw one). It was a simpler time back then. The memes could be remembered more than a week after seeing them, and for some reason i still remember this guy!.
